Our editorial team Biological therapy has revolutionized moderate to severe psoriasis treatment. However, despite being more effective than conventional systemic treatments, some patients do not respond or lose response to biotechnological treatments or develop drug-antibodies, interfering with its safety and efficacy. There are also clinical forms of the disease and patient profiles for which is pending further scientific evidence for more sustained therapeutic interventions. The continuous and more detailed knowledge of psoriasis pathophysiology has allowed identifying new therapeutic targets, which is expected to help overcome the challenges of individualized psoriasis treatment.

Nutrition, Food & Recipes Female Salicylic acid 5%–10% has a potent keratolytic effect. Salicylic acid is generally formulated in an ointment or mineral oil and applied for an extended period to reduce the hyperkeratotic scale characteristic of plaque psoriasis. In such cases, removal of scale can help with the penetration of adjunctive medications.5 Due to its formulation, patients frequently report difficulty removing the product from their hair; this can be circumvented by applying a clarifying shampoo to the hair prior to entering the shower to aid in removal of the product.

Psoriasis has important consequences, both physical and emotional. Studies have shown that people with psoriasis have a lower quality of life and lower self-esteem than people who do not have the disorder. The physical impacts of psoriasis include irritation, pain, or burning sensations. The emotional impacts include an increased chance of depression, and impaired coping skills. People with psoriasis can feel stigmatized which may result in avoidance of social settings and increased isolation. In general, the degree of physical and emotional impairment for people with psoriasis is similar to those who have heart disease, cancer, or diabetes. Mrowietz 200
