It is important that your child understands their condition, and that they treat it as normal for them, so as they grow they accept the situation in a natural way. Involve them in their treatment regimes, try to make it fun by devising games, or a reward system. Listen to them and what they say about the treatments they are using. If they say it stings, it’s too sticky, its uncomfortable, it makes them itch more these are all things you can discuss together with your doctor when you next meet, as these factors may be alleviated or other products tried. It is important that they have your support and encouragement and that they can discuss issues with you as they grow.

A great advantage of the CA exercise performed in our study is that it realistically reflects the decision-making process undertaken by patients and physicians in daily clinical practice. The attributes and attribute levels represented in the choice experiments realistically characterize all treatment options available for moderate and severe psoriasis. To our knowledge, our study is the first to explore and compare preferences for process and outcome attributes for all available psoriasis treatments. Clearly, our findings should be verified in larger and more diverse patient samples before generalizations can be made. Our study included only a subpopulation of patients with moderate to severe psoriasis treated in a German university hospital, and patient preferences may be different among individuals with mild psoriasis. We cannot imply that our findings are transferable to patients in other cultures and health systems. Furthermore, the effects of other disease-related factors, such as disease duration, previous treatment experience, and comorbidities, on patient preferences for psoriasis treatment need to be explored.
× A more recent open-label, non-controlled study evaluating the effect of twice daily treatment of scalp psoriasis with calcipotriol scalp solution (50 mcg/mL) found the total sign score for scalp psoriasis reduced from 5.9 to 2.5 (P<0.001) over a 28-day treatment period.38 No further reduction in disease severity was observed with continued treatment for a total of 52 weeks, but the percentage of patients assessing their scalp psoriasis as moderate-to-severe had decreased from 72% to 21%. There were no significant changes in mean serum calcium, parathyroid hormone or urinary calcium/creatinine ratio.38

Symptom: Dry and Flaky Scalp A/Prof Baker described psoriasis as a "troublesome, chronic skin condition - red scaly pacthes - sometimes just as dandruff, sometimes as a small patch just on the part of the body not causing great trouble; but we've understood now that psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder, and that it has other systems, it affects other systems of the body, like the joints."
