Of all the topical treatments available, corticosteroids have shown the greatest efficacy in clinical trials for scalp psoriasis, and are the most commonly prescribed treatment.5,18 Given the importance of vehicle formulations in patient adherence, topical corticosteroids are now available as creams, lotions, ointments, oils, gels, foams, solutions, sprays, and shampoos. Several reports suggest that patients prefer newer cosmetically appealing options such as sprays and foams.
