However, despite being more effective than conventional systemic treatments, some patients do not respond or lose response to biotechnological treatments or develop drug-antibodies, interfering with its safety and efficacy. There are also clinical forms of the disease and patient profiles for which is pending further scientific evidence for more sustained therapeutic interventions. The continuous and more detailed knowledge of psoriasis pathophysiology has allowed identifying new therapeutic targets, which is expected to help overcome the challenges of individualized psoriasis treatment.

$8 (Shop Now) Because biological agents interfere with the immune system, it is important for people who use these treatments to undergo screening for infectious disease before they begin using them. Any severe infections, including tuberculosis and hepatitis B or hepatitis C should be treated before biological therapy commences.
Though biologics are essentially a last-resort treatment, a lot of patients want to jump to them sooner these days because they're very effective, not very time-consuming, and have few side effects. Several different genes have been identified but the exact way in which the disorder moves from generation to generation has not yet been established. What is known is that both the immune system and genetics are important in its development. So although the potential to develop psoriasis is genetically inherited, it is by no means certain that it will ever occur.
